Right, firstly, Mr. Dave Johnson, it seems to me that you have either got the wrong retaurant, or else you are part of that crowd making sure Streatham doesn't keep fine institutions like Chilli Chutney. It isn't the Ivy, but it doesn't pretend to be. But then again, it's far better than any other restaurant in the area, and does Indo-Pakistani food extremely well, with great originality. The staff insist on you having a good time, and the food itself is worth coming for, try the stuffed Chilli, for example, or else the mozang chicken which was actually one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Or did you come to a curry house looking for popadoms and onions!? You culinery scum.

I am a regular at all their branches, and they seem to have got the formula right. I was so shocked when I read this review I felt obliged to rectify your slanderous comments. Doesn't matter to be honest, everyone who has been there know where the best curry in London is...

And by the way, the brown rice is called Pilao, philistine. It's made with onions, funnily enough and And it's bloomin' excellent.

Very disappointing. I've walked past often, and always thought it looks like it would be a good restaurant, but I was very far from the truth.

In summary - bad bad food.

Very greasy rice, that was a strange brown colour.
No flavour to the dish I ordered, despite asking for it be be made spicy.
Poor house wines.
The manager/waitress wouldn't leave us along, asking every 5 minutes if everything was OK - which it clearly wasnt.

They are clearly trying to entice people in, with their recent refurb, and several special offers in the local press and cinema, but ith food this bad, they'd struggle to give it away.

And the worst thing - no chopped onion with the bland poppadums!

Sorry don't know what all the fuss is about. We didn't get past the poppodums and dips before we hatched our plan to escape. The owner tried to intercept our early departure, we were too embarrassed to tell her the dips were tasteless and poppodums tasted of old oil. Shame, she was a lovely lady, however no way are we going back in there again.

Lots of reviews on this website so I felt I had to go and try Chilli Chutney.I would agree with those that have had an excellent experience. Some restaurants you go to leave you feeling unfulfilled. Not here! The food is excellent, friendly waiters and good surroundings. A definite plus for Streatham.
