Give it a wide berth. The Jazz band is well crap.Could be nice with a proper attitude. To be honest this is typical of Hackney. Get up to Hampstead better pubs same fucking prices.

I've just been to this pub with my 3 yr old daughter because I understood it to be a friendly family pub. However, after less than a minute of entering a man who told me he was a staff member, despite the fact that he was standing at the bar drinking, told me my daughter should not have been near the bar. He was very aggressive and my young one was quite upset. I certainly won't be returning.

Excuse me...pub landlords reserve the right to be grumpy. Also, haven't you noticed that dogs can get lively from time to time?... and if you like your food 'al dente' you shouldn't really be in Hackney in the first place. This pub has a quiet, easy-going, riverside atmosphere, with a rather classy jazz outfit playing every sunday!

I visited the pub on bank holiday Monday with family, to be greeted by a rude landlord who was only interested in watching cricket. Other than three people at the bar, we were the only customers in the pub. It took 10 minutes from the first to the last of our eight meals to be served, with chips instead of roast potatoes for roasts, and very 'al dente' vegetables to the point of being raw. A dog was allowed to run amock around us while we were eating, and our well-behaved 3 year old was told to stop throwing things by the landlord, to protect the other patrons!Very disappointing.
